Privacy policy
Nzonzi Coffee ("Nzonzi", "we") runs the website nzonzicoffee.store and the Nzonzi Coffee app. This policy explains what personal information we collect, why, who can see it, and your choices. It applies to shop customers and to everyone with an account: farmers, extension workers, traders, transporters, riders, exporters, accountants and staff.
What we collect
- Account details: name, phone number and a login PIN or passcode. We store the PIN to let you sign in; your sign-in session is kept as a random token, and only a one-way hash of it is stored.
- Farm details (farmers): farm size, year you started farming, region, district and village, and the location of your farm, pinned by GPS by your extension worker.
- Payment details: the mobile money number (MTN or Airtel) or bank account, and the name it is registered in, so that payments to you can be made without cash.
- Photos: photos you choose to send your extension worker for help. Each photo is stamped with the time and the GPS location where it was taken.
- Location: your phone's location is used only when you press "Use current location" or take a help photo (farmers, extension workers), and while riders are working their route. We never track location in the background of the app for farmers.
- Records of your activity with us: coffee deliveries and their grading, sales recorded for you, farm visits, extension requests, prices you post (exporters), and for riders their routes, shop visits, sales and cash reconciliation.
- Transport requests: where coffee is picked up (a town, or your phone's location if you choose "Use my current location"), where it is going, its weight, the pick-up date, a note and your phone number; for transporters, their truck's number plate and capacity, and the jobs they accept.
- Phone notifications: if you turn them on, the notification address your phone's browser gives us, so we can send you updates (new transport jobs, bookings, today's coffee price). You can turn them off in your phone's settings at any time.
- Shop orders: the name, phone number and delivery details you give at checkout, and the status of your mobile money payment.
Why we use it
- To run your account and show you your own prices, deliveries, sales, visits and requests.
- To buy, grade and pay for coffee, and to pay people cashlessly to the details on file.
- To give farmers extension support: planning and routing visits, answering photo requests.
- To trace coffee back to its region and farms, which buyers and export rules require.
- To fulfil shop orders and take payment.
- To keep accounts secure (for example, one device signed in at a time, and locking a login after repeated wrong PINs).
We do not sell personal information, and we do not use it for advertising.
Who can see it
- You see your own information in your account.
- Transporters see each open transport job (the pick-up place, destination, weight and fare). Once a transporter accepts your job, they see your name and phone number, and you see theirs and their truck's number plate.
- Your extension worker sees the farmers in the districts they are assigned to, including their payment details and help photos, so they can support them.
- Nzonzi staff see what they need to run the business. Payment numbers are shown masked in lists.
- Buyers of our coffee may receive origin and grading information for the coffee they buy (for example region, district and farm locations for traceability) but not your payment details or PIN.
- Service providers who help us run the service: our hosting provider; Yo! Payments / mobile network operators for payments; and OpenStreetMap (maps and place names) and Google Maps (directions, opened only when you tap them).
- Public pages never show what anyone was paid.
How we protect it and how long we keep it
Information is sent over encrypted connections (HTTPS) and stored on secured servers, with access limited by account type. Help photos are private and shown only to the farmer, their extension worker and staff. We keep information while your account is active and for as long as needed for our records, payments, traceability and legal obligations, then delete or anonymise it.
Your choices and rights
You can ask us to show you, correct or delete your personal information, or to close your account. Farmers can also ask their extension worker to update their details. Some records (for example completed payments) may need to be kept for legal and accounting reasons. You can refuse location or camera permission on your phone; some features (pinning a farm, help photos) will then not work.
Deleting your account and data
To delete your Nzonzi Coffee account and the personal information linked to it:
- Contact us by email at kavumadarius@gmail.com or by phone or WhatsApp on 0787963703, or ask your extension worker.
- Tell us the name and phone number on the account, and say you want it deleted.
- We confirm it is your account by calling or messaging that phone number, then delete it within 30 days.
What we delete: your account and login, phone number, payment details (mobile money or bank), farm location, help photos and farm visit records.
What we keep, and for how long: records of coffee deliveries, sales and completed payments are kept for up to 7 years because tax, accounting and coffee traceability rules require it. They are kept only for those purposes.
You can also ask us to delete only some of your information (for example your photos) without closing your account.
Children
The service is not intended for children under 18, and we do not knowingly collect their information.
